Verona’s Real Estate ‘Sizzling’

It’s ridiculously cold and rainy again today, but in one key aspect, Verona is very hot: its real estate market. This week, NJ.com made Verona No. 10 on a list of 15 New Jersey towns that have “sizzling hot” property interest. We came in one rank higher than Montclair, and the website even went so far as to issue a “bargain alert” on Verona because we have the lowest home value of the hot list, at $484,090.

Verona’s public schools superintendent, Dr. Rui Dionisio, thinks he knows why Verona is so desirable. “Location to work opportunity/NYC and schools are the main drivers,” he said by text message. “Since our geographic position hasn’t changed, it is no coincidence that our schools are the main driver in the interest in Verona. Great effort between schools, town and entire community.”

Sizzling does seem to be an apt word for the Verona real estate market this weekend. There are 12 new listings, all but one of which are for single-family homes. (Five of the new listings are even below NJ.com’s value price.) There are a staggering 19 open houses today and tomorrow, and three listings with lower prices.

Here’s what’s happening, from lowest priced to highest in each category:
