Prep Baseball To Honor Dan Cooney With Game

On Saturday, May 5, the St. Peter’s Prep baseball team will take on Xavier High School in the 1st Annual Dan Cooney Classic at 2 p.m. at Cochrane Field at Caven Point in Jersey City.

The game is being played to honor the memory of Verona native Dan Cooney, Prep Class of 2015, and to generate awareness for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Admission is free. All donations collected at the game will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in honor of Dan. The Cooney family will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

To get to the field take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 14 via I-78 toward US-1/US-9/Holland Tunnel. Merge onto I-78 East. Take exit 14-B toward Jersey City. Turn left onto Bayview Ave. Turn right onto Caven Point Rd (at the light). Turn left onto Chapel Ave (at light). Field and parking is on the right.
