The election in NJ11th is attracting more attention this year because Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ11), who has held the seat for more than two decades, has announced his retirement. The filing deadline for those looking to run this year was Monday, and there is a long list of candidates. The Republican challengers include Jay Webber, who currently represents the New Jersey state Assembly district that includes Verona, as well as Patrick Allocco, Antony Ghee, Martin Hewitt and Peter DeNeufville. The Democratic candidates include Mark Washburne, Tamara Harris, Alison Heslin, Mitchell Cobert and Mikie Sherrill, who yesterday received the endorsement of former Vice President Joe Biden.
