Chris Yeates made his mark at Verona High School in soccer, track and lacrosse. Since graduating VHS with the Class of 2016, Yeates has taken his speed to Ithaca College, where he is currently a sophomore and a member of its Division III indoor and outdoor track & field team.
This indoor season Ithaca’s Men’s Track Team had tremendous success as they stepped up to the more competitive Liberty Conference. Yeates continued to lower his times meet after meet in the 60 meter and 200 meter events, setting personal best times in the Liberty Conference Meet of Champions of 7.16 seconds in the 60 meter and 23.07 seconds in the 200 meter events. The results gave Yeates Liberty Conference Championship positions of fifth place overall in the 60 meter and sixth place overall in the 200 meter events. Yeates’ efforts helped Ithaca College secure its very first Liberty Conference Championship.
Yeates was also a member of the 4 X 200 meter relay team that burned up the track throughout the season and ultimately placed second in the DIII Atlantic Regional Finals (missing first place by .17 of a second). Yeates is home this week on spring break getting some rest before he heads back to campus to start the outdoor track & field season where he will run the 100 meter, 200 meter and 4 X 100 meter relay events.
