Robert McNinchMr. Robert E. McNinch, 79, died suddenly at his home in Cedar Grove on March 8, 2018. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Sunday, March 11 from 2 to 6 p.m. A service will be held in the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, 10 Fairview Avenue, on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Born in Glen Ridge, Mr. McNinch grew up and lived in Verona for 50 years before moving to Cedar Grove 29 years ago. He graduated from Verona High School and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1965.

Mr. McNinch was an officer with the Verona Police Department and then with the Essex County Police Department before starting his second career in 1979 in real estate, where he achieved Million Dollar Sales Club status every year. He eventually became the owner/broker of Cedarcrest Realty in Caldwell.

He was a member of the Verona Rescue Squad, Verona PBA Local 72, and a lifelong, active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Verona.

Mr. McNinch was predeceased by his parents, Robert McNinch and Bertha (nee Coad) McNinch Hoffler, and his sister, Donna McNinch.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Martha T. (nee Leyble) McNinch, loving daughters, Donna Cannizzaro, Diane DePalma (Daniel), Robin Karpinski, and Kimberly McNinch and cherished grandchildren, Brielle DePalma, Daniel DePalma (Meg), Shannon Cannizzaro, and Alex, Jessica, Rebecca and David Karpinski.
