Sustainable Verona is teaming up with the Verona Park Conservancy to clean the lake in Verona Park on Saturday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and they are inviting the community to join them.
Volunteers should meet at the south end of the park, near the entrance on Park Avenue and Hathaway Lane. You will need to sign and bring this waiver, and you should bring your own water. If you have a net with handle or a leaf rake to remove litter from the shore line please bring it, too. The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission is donating gloves and trash bags, and the Conservancy will have grabber tools, long handled nets and a rowboat.
Once an old swamp, the lake in Verona Park was first formed in 1814 when a dam was built on the the Peckman River for a grist mill.
