To the Editor:

I’d like to thank you for spending time with all the Officers at Livingston Police Department’s Active Shooter Training this past week. Over the last 20 years this training has become an unfortunate necessary component to add to the Police Officer’s repertoire.

I personally would like to thank Livingston Police Chief Craig Handschuch for allowing and nurturing this exceptional relationship with our Department over the past several years. Verona has gained so much invaluable experience from his Officers and we are grateful for these opportunities to work side by side with his highly skilled and proficient Emergency Service Unit staff.

High praise and gratitude to Captain Gary Marshuetz, Officers Derek Wyatt, David Kimak, Kevin Mullaney, and the members of their Unit for making this exercise one the best we have ever attended. It takes a lot of time and effort (and time away from their families) to put together such a multi-faceted and extraordinarily adept program. We also thank Belleville Police Department Emergency Service Unit’s Sergeant Sean Curran, Officer Charles Mollineaux, and Thomas Infusino for always sharing their prowess and expertise with our Officers.

The Verona Police Department is indebted to the Livingston Police Department for this week’s phenomenal training they arranged.

Regards,
Christopher Kiernan
Acting Chief of Police
Verona Police Department
