Some of the many chemo cap designs you can learn to make in the Library class.

The Verona Public Library is starting an English as a Second Language (ESL) conversation group for adults on Mondays beginning February 5. The group, which will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Library’s temporary location in the Verona Community Center annex, will be led by Arlene Aguirre, a certified ESL instructor.

The Library will also be reviving its Knit for a Cause group next week. Knitters of all levels are invited to make hats for chemotherapy patients, which will be donated to St. Barnabas Hospital. For the next few winter weeks, Knit for a Cause will meet on Tuesday mornings at 11 a.m. Meet in the upstairs Firemen’s Room of the Verona Community Center. Materials will be provided to those who meet in person, but you do need to register in advance to let the Library know that you can attend.

If you can’t join the group in person you can still make hats to donate. Simply follow the knitting and crocheting patterns on Knots of Love, and be sure to only use approved yarns.

On Thursdays at 10 a.m., the Library will sessions of relaxation and meditation with certified Reiki Practitioner Anne Shields. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or blanket. This program will also meet in the Firemen’s Room of the Verona Community Center.
