Don’t throw out all the cards you got this holiday: The Verona Municipal Alliance Committee (VMAC) says the DREAM Team at H.B. Whitehorne will once again be recycling them into new cards for charity. You can help the club out by dropping off just the fronts of the cards you received at the middle school this week.
The used cards are sent to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, a charity that cares for abused, abandoned and neglected children. They take your used cards and make new ones out of them which they then sell. Only the front of the card is used, so any donated cards must not have personal writing on the back or front of the card.Â
The DREAM Team (the acronym stands for Daring to Reach out to Each other And Make a difference) is a community-based service club. Team members learn and practice leadership skills under the guidance of advisors. The students plan and participate in community service projects, drug free and violence awareness activities as well serve as positive role models for the school community. You can learn more about the club on its website. VMAC’s mission is to provide information on alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse prevention, as well as healthy lifestyle choices to all members of the Verona community.
