Verona Eagles fans will undoubtedly remember the name Kyle Queiro, who played youth football in Verona before heading to Bergen Catholic High School.
Queiro is now a senior safety for Northwestern University, and yesterday he snagged an interception that sealed the Wildcats’ win over Kentucky in the Music City Bowl. With with 7:49 left in the game, Queiro picked off a throw by Kentucky’s quarterback and ran it 26 yards down the sidelines, balancing like a tightrope walker without a net, for a touchdown.
If you missed the Music City Bowl game, or you just want to see more of this kind of play, you can also catch Queiro in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, a post-season game for NFL draft-eligible college players. That will be played on Saturday, January 20, at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, Calif.
