There will be a presentation on Tuesday night, November 7, by George Scott, a former leader of the Traumatic Loss Coalitions, New Jersey’s primary youth suicide prevention program.
“Raising Healthy Children”, will look at the reasons why children are being prescribed, and taking, psychotropic medications, why adolescents use drugs and alcohol, self-injure or refuse to come to school, and why more children are showing signs of depression and anxiety.
Scott, who is now head of the Center for Counseling Services, does not believe that we are raising children with “flawed” biology, flawed neurology, or even flawed psychology. He does not believe that parents are flawed. He believes that there are solutions when parents have more understanding. “When we know what the contributing factors are, then we are better prepared to make changes that benefit all of our children,” Scott says. “Helping parents understand creates partnerships.”
“Raising Healthy Children”, will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Verona High School auditorium. It is free and open to the public.
