Verona Lions Kick Off Super 50/50 Fundraiser

By on November 2, 2017

The Verona Lions kicked off their annual Super 50/50 fundraiser and began selling tickets at key locations in Verona. There will be up to 1,700 tickets to be sold. The awards will be 40% to the first prizewinner and 10% for second prize. “All proceeds from the fundraiser go to back to Verona residents through the programs run by the Lions,” Bill Abele, president of the Verona Lions, stated during the kickoff meeting week. This year’s drawing will take place on December 5.

The Verona Lions have been a proactive volunteer organization since 1951. The Lions maintain a Hospital loan closet containing wheelchairs, walkers, canes and hospital beds for needy residents. The equipment is loaned to residents and delivered by members free of charge.

In addition the Verona Lions donated a new vehicle to the Township of Verona that is used to transport residents to doctors appointments.

The Lions donate over $2,500 in food gift cards each year during the holidays to needy residents. You may notice during the Fair in the Square free eye screening exams which are provided free of charge to residents. This is another valuable benefit volunteers provide to Verona.

Please help to continue the support for the activities of the Verona Lions by purchasing a 50/50 raffle ticket. Tickets are $10.

Look for the Lions at local retail establishments. If you wish to purchase a raffle ticket, email Andrew Burger at [email protected] or call 973-980-2225.
