Food Truck Festival This Sunday

The Verona Conference of SCAs, which represents the School Community Associations at each of Verona’s public schools, is opening the parking lot at Verona High School to a food truck festival this Sunday, October 8.

From 1 to 6 p.m. you can dine your way around some of the best food trucks in our area: Bro-Ritos, which specializes in burritos and tacos; Carnivale Donut Bar, which makes donut- and cookie-topped ice cream shakes and donut ice cream sandwiches; Cuban sandwich specialist Cubano X-Press; Donny’s Dogs, which made the Munchmobile’s list of best hot dogs in New Jersey; Empanada Lady, one of Verona’s two sit-down eateries with food trucks; Koro Koro Cafe Rice Balls, which serves serves Japanese-style onigiri; Mike’s Ice Cream, which features Good Humor treats; Ms. Fu’s Yummy Food Truck and its Japanese, Korean, Thai and Chinese dishes; The French Quarter, which is inspired by New Orlean and Cajun cooking; Thai Elephant, which also has a restaurant in Verona; and Tiny Elephant, the Montclair bakery and cafe run by Verona natives.

There will also be a touch-a-truck, inflatables and music by Xander Marx, Modern Music Academy, Zenith, 3Way, and Lady Picture Show, a Stone Temple Pilots tribute band fronted by Verona Police Sgt. Dan Greco.

Entry is $7 for adults and free for kids; tickets for the touch-truck and inflatables are $10 per child. You’ll also of course need to pay for whatever you buy at each of the trucks.

The event is co-sponsored by the Township of Verona, Farmer’s Insurance, Green Valley Landscape, and Investors Bank.
