At the Town Council meeting on Monday night, the Council reminded Verona residents that the deadline to register to vote in the November general election is coming up on Tuesday, October 17.
If you don’t whether you are registered to vote in New Jersey, you can check your status on the website of New Jersey’s Department of State.
If you need to register, download the Essex County registration form in English or Spanish and follow the instructions on filling it out and getting it to the Essex County Commissioner of Registration, Hall of Records Room 417A, 465 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Newark, NJ 07102-9852 by October 17. Now is also the time to apply to vote by mail. Verona voters who are out of town at college should know that anyone can vote by mail now, but there are rules to follow, particularly if you are voting by mail for the first time. You can download an application for Essex County in English or Spanish. (Other counties are here.) You can apply to vote by mail up until Tuesday, October 31.
The general election is Tuesday, November 7. New Jersey’s governor is up for election as are the state Assembly and Senate legislators who represent Verona in the 26th legislative district.
