Mrs. Marie L. Rachel, 93, died on September 16, 2017 in West Orange. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Tuesday, September 26 from 5 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Wednesday at 10 AM.
Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Rachel moved to Verona in 1955.
She was a past president of the Mothers Club of Essex Catholic High School and very active at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, where she was a eucharistic minister, in the Bethany Ministry, coordinator of altar linens and past president of the Rosary Society.
Mrs. Rachel was predeceased by Clemence J. Rachel, II, her daughter, Jeanmarie and her granddaughter, Melissa. She is survived by her sons, Clemence (Skip) Rachel III, John M. Rachel, Thomas M. Rachel, Richard E. Rachel; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Endowment Trust of Our Lady of the Lake Church, 22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona 07044 would be appreciated.
