To The Editor:
On behalf of the Junior Woman’s Club of Verona, we thank the generous donors in Verona and the surrounding communities who supported our Packs with Purpose backpack and school supply drive.
The Juniors received over 70 backpacks and countless supplies that were distributed to children in Verona attending kindergarten through 12th grade. All proceeds from the event benefitted Verona children in need.
Thank you to Walgreen’s in Verona, especially Christian Strickland, the store manager who allowed us to collect supplies outside of the store for two days. The continued support of Walgreens has helped provide over 170 backpacks over the last four years, filled with age-appropriate school supplies, to Verona children in need.
Thank you also to Platinum Fitness and Hardbodyz Fitness for allowing us to collect supplies at their gyms. Their members were extremely generous and we wouldn’t have met our goal without their support. We would also like to thank Daisy Troop #20376 and Verona Kids Rock for helping collect supplies outside of Walgreens. Their enthusiasm was a tremendous help in obtaining additional donations from the customers going into Walgreens.
Members of the Juniors volunteered many hours to ensure that the event ran smoothly and the collective enthusiasm of these women drove this community effort.
