The Verona Mayor’s Wellness Committee is launching a program of group walks in Verona Park on Thursday mornings, beginning September 21. The free walks will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., and will begin outside the boathouse by the bridge. If you prefer to exercise indoors, the committee has partnered with Hardbodyz Fitness to offer a free Open Gym day on Wednesday, September 27.
The efforts are an outgrowth of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute’s Mayors Wellness Campaign, a statewide initiative in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. This summer, the Verona Mayor’s Wellness Committee and Verona Yoga sponsored free yoga classes in Verona Park on Wednesday nights and held a health and wellness fair in July, which it intends to repeat later this year.
The Wellness Committee is made of up municipal employees, local business owners, health and wellness professionals and rResidents. It is looking to add more members. If you are interested in volunteering on the Mayor’s Wellness Committee, email Steven Neale at [email protected].
