Something sure lit a fire under these Verona brothers: Vincent and Franco Camerota are both now career firefighters.

Vincent, a former U.S. Marine who served in Afghanistan who was also a member of the all-volunteer Verona Fire Department, graduated from the Essex County Fire Academy in October 2016. After three months of rigorous training, both physical and academic, he was selected by his drill instructors and peers to earn the Merit Award out of his class. He recently completed his first year as a Bloomfield firefighter.

His younger brother Franco (VHS ’12) had four months of the same difficult training and was one of the 50 recruits to be selected for the Baltimore County Fire Academy out of 2,500 applicants. He began serving Baltimore County in July 2017.

Both brothers are consistently doing training drills and volunteering for their communities and, their mom says, are prepared for any emergency that will come their way.
