Nancy Mahon Hart, 85, of Wakefield, R.I., and formerly of Verona, passed away at home in mid-July, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Victor R. Hart for 59 years.

Born in Orange, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Kathryn (Flynn) Mahon. She grew up in West Orange and graduated from St. Vincent’s Nursing Program in Montclair, and was a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and loved the Jersey shore.

Mrs. Hart lived most of her life in New Jersey, until recently moving to Rhode Island. She was a resident of Verona for more than 40 years, and sang in the choir at Our Lady of the Lake. She also taught CCD, and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the long gray line at the Verona Community Pool. She truly loved raising her family in Verona. She will be remembered for her deep Christian faith and her devotion to her family, especially her three grandsons, who were the apple of her eye.

Besides her husband she is survived by three children; Terry Hart of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kelly Hart and her wife Debbi Schoof of Brick, N.J. and Mary Cowger and her husband Todd of Wakefield, and three grandchildren; Patrick, Jonathon, and Brady Cowger. She was the sister of the late Patrick Mahon and Winifred Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingstown. Burial was private.

The family is grateful for the compassion and care provided and ask that memorial donations be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 023904.
