To mark this year’s Fourth of July, the Department of Public Works has painted a giant American flag on the southern end of the lawn by Bloomfield Avenue. According to Steven Neale, Verona’s manager of media services, the DPW planned the project and used field paint and airbrushes to carry it out, beginning with some white base paint before layering the colors on top. As the lawn grows, the design will eventually get mowed out.
