First PresbyterianThe temperatures might have been soaring last week, but several members of the Cancel Choir at First Presbyterian Church of Verona, had Christmas on their minds as they gathered together to rehearse the 2017 Christmas Cantata. This year’s cantata, to be performed on December 10, is titled “Let There Be Christmas” by Joseph Martin. New voices area always welcome. The choir rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings prior to the 10:15 a.m. service. Rehearsals will resume the first Wednesday after Labor Day.

Meanwhile, to beat the heat, the church, which is located at 10 Fairview Avenue will be switching to “summer service” hours starting on Sunday, July 2 through Labor Day weekend. Instead of at 10:15 a.m., the service will start at 9:30 a.m. before the heat of the day kicks in. All are invited to come in more cool and relaxed attire.

Throughout the summer there will be several special musical guests as well as a hymn sing on July 30.
