Next Tuesday, May 23, Sustainable Verona is launching “Green Screen”, a free summer program to show movies about the environment.
The first movie in the series is A Plastic Ocean, a documentary that was born out of a filmmaker’s search for the elusive blue whale. Instead, an international team of explorers and researchers uncovered the global effects of plastic pollution.
This movie, and the others in the series, will be screened at the Verona Community Center Ballroom, 880 Bloomfield Avenue, at 7:30 p.m. Sustainable Verona is an adjunct of town government that is helping to make Verona “greener”.
On Tuesday, June 27, the Sustainable Verona movie is More Than Honey, a look at the crucial role that bees play in agriculture and the dangers posed by the risk of colony collapse.
Finally, on Tuesday, July 25, the movie is the signature environmental film An Inconvenient Truth, former Vice President Al Gore’s passionate campaign for the environment.
