I am writing to express my strong support for Ted Giblin’s candidacy for Verona Town Council.

Verona is a wonderful, vibrant town, with families from many different backgrounds and in many different stages of their lives. Unfortunately, this vibrancy is not reflected in the current makeup of our Town Council. We are currently served by five Councilmen, none of whom have elementary-age school children. Having the perspective of a citizen and a parent at this life stage would be a strong compliment to the perspectives provided by our other current Councilmen.

And, having known Ted since I moved to Verona seven years ago, I can strongly recommend him as the person for this role. In addition to tremendous enthusiasm for this opportunity, Ted brings a wealth of knowledge on government, both at the local and county levels – knowledge that would be of particular value with initiatives that require support beyond Verona’s town borders, such as traffic lights or stop signs on county roads. In short, he will come to the table as an informed Council member from day one.

Many letters in support of other candidates have alluded to “a return to the past” that could accompany others’ elections. I find this whole sentiment ludicrous. We are all taxpayers, and we all want a financially efficient government with improved services. We also want a government that provides an attitude of respect for all citizens, especially those who volunteer their time and energy to better our town. Knowing Ted as I do, I can assure you he supports this approach wholeheartedly.

You have three votes on May 9th. Please consider using one of those three to vote, as I will, for Ted Giblin.
