Candles4Mr. Michael T. Hayes, 31, died on April 4, 2017 at his home in Monmouth, Ore. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona is on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Graveside services will be held in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Valley Road, Upper Montclair on Monday, April 10 at 2 p.m.

Born in Livingston, Mr. Hayes grew up in Verona and lived in Dallas, Pa. prior to moving to Monmouth, Ore. two years ago.

He graduated from the University of Kansas and started working as an equipment manager for Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa., and then at the Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Ore.

He is the son of James F. (Jeff) and Michelle Sun Hayes, the brother of Steven and the late Susan Hayes and the grandson of Lin-Yin Sun. He is also survived by his uncles Tom and Don, Aunt Janis and cousins, Teresa Proberts and Stacy Przybylinski.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the North American SUDEP Registry, c/o Fizza Hussain, NYU Langone Medical Center, Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, 223 East 34th Street, NYC, NY 10016 would be appreciated. Your donation will go to research that the Center is conducting to better understand the causes of Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy patients.
