verona kids rockIn honor of Saint Patrick’s Day, Verona Kids Rock Group, a group of elementary school students who do community service, collected food and meals prepared by their parents for the temporary residents at YMCA in Newark. The group prepared enough food to feed close to 300 people. Three Verona Kids Rock members, Anna Belle Lilley, Olivia Baureis, and Brooklyn Lyons spent three hours on Saturday, March 18, serving food to both children and parents at the YMCA. Anthony Franco’s in Verona also donated food for the event.

The YMCA helps families get back on their feet, including food pantry, case management, and counseling. Its program offers services for up to 19 youth for 45 days each. While at the YMCA, these teens in crisis receive counseling, mentorship, life skills training, and other support services. The YMCA’s Residence Program offers 167 rooms for travelers, students, and others in need of safe, affordable, temporary housing.
