6th Grade Girls Take Suburban Hoops Championship

suburban basketballThe Verona 6th Grade Girls Suburban team won the championship this past Saturday by beating Nutley, 35-27. A multitude of Verona fans were in attendance at this heated game that took place at the Nutley Parks and Recreation center.

The team’s players are, from left to right above (top row) Todd Squilanti (assistant coach), Chris Nippes (assistant coach), Bridget Lonergan, Patricia Rakova, Sabine Matta, Gia Bujnowski, Emily Baumgard, Larry Lonergan (coach), Abby Petruzzi, Renee Schwartz, and Kendall Aromando; (seated) Bridget Lonsinger, Clara Nippes, Juliana Squilanti, and Madison Lipinski. All of the girls are students at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School.

Their trophy will be on display at the Verona Community Center.
