“Fall in Love with Public Speaking” is the theme for the special guests and friends meeting sponsored by Essex Toastmasters on Thursday, February 9, starting at 7 p.m. at the Verona Public Library.
Public speaking is listed as America’s number one fear before death at number five and loneliness at number seven. Essex Toastmasters can help ease that anxiety and help you develop the communication and leadership skills needed to reach your goals. Individuals learn important skills like public speaking & team leadership in a supportive peer-guided environment.
“I joined Toastmasters to get over my fear of public speaking,” says Javier Lewis, president, Essex Toastmasters. “What I discovered was so much more. Anyone can learn to speak in front of a audience. That’s the easy part. However, being able to develop ideas into speeches and to convey your meaning with maximum impact using organizational skills, body language and voice modulation is just one of the many benefits of Toastmasters.
“Along the way I learned important new leadership skills and developed skills I already had,” Lewis continues. “Whether its the frog in your throat when called on to speak in the work meeting or making small talk with the stranger at the grocery store, Toastmasters can help you find your voice. What are you waiting for?”
The Verona Public Library is located at 17 Gould Street in Verona. The even will be held in the Jack Foley room downstairs.
