Mrs. Elaine J. Sona, 88, died on Monday, December 12, 2016 in Cedar Grove. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Friday, December 16 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Sona moved to Verona in 1955. Mrs. Sona was a volunteer at the St. Vincent Hospital in Montclair and over the years she was the foster mother for 56 children.
She was the wife of the late Charles M. Sona, the loving mother of Charles F. Sona (Laurie), Judith Thatcher (Douglas), George W. Sona, Sr., William J. Sona (Donna), Lori Ann Ramos-James (Stephen) and Dawn Teets (William).
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Verona Rescue Squad or St. Vincent’s Nursing Home would be appreciated.
