VHS Grad Saves Life At Montclair State
Andrew Burde graduated Verona High School with the class of 2003 and went on to a career with the Montclair State University Police Department. Now MSU is hailing Burde as a hero for saving a life on campus.
According the MSU’s The Montclarion news site, Burde and two other members of the campus police force recently got an emergency call about a construction worker who was not breathing. Burde, who also serves as a volunteer firefighter in Verona, and one partner performed CPR for 15 minutes, before the third partner applied a defibrillator. The first responders continued their efforts until the campus EMS took the man to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson. According to the The Montclarion, the man underwent emergency surgery and is now on the mend.
MSU’s Police Department intends to give Burde and his team its Life Saving Award in the near future. You can read the full story on The Montclarion here.
