On Saturday, October 15, at 5 p.m. Verona’s award-winning Marching Maroon and White will host three area bands at its annual Band Festival at the Verona High School’s newly reopened Thomas J. Sellitto Field.

In addition to Verona’s own exhibition performance, this year’s band festival will feature three bands from New Jersey: the Passaic Valley High School Hornets, the West Orange High School Marching Mountaineers and the Pequannock Township High School Marching Band. The doors will open for the competition at 5 p.m., with the Verona Marching Maroon and White performing at approximately 7 p.m. The Verona High School upper field is accessible via Fairview Avenue or Grove Street in Verona.  Handicap parking is available in the lot next to the tennis courts off of Sampson Drive.

Come join the band, the Verona Music Parents Association and our local sponsors for an evening of great music, food and fun for the whole community. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and free for children 12 and under. Verona students may attend for free with a school ID.

The Verona High School Marching Maroon and White is under the direction of Erik Lynch, a quarterfinalist for the 2015 and 2016 Grammy Music Educator Award.   This year’s theme for Verona’s musical program is “A Night at the Opera,” featuring some of the most iconic moments of Richard Wagner’s epic operas.  The Marching Maroon and White won Best Percussion at the New Jersey State Championships in 2013 and 2012. The band took second place at the National Championships in 2011 and is one of three bands (out of 750) in the entire U.S. Scholastic Band Association circuit to be a two-time winner of the prestigious Cadets Award of Excellence.
