On Wednesday, October 5, Forest Avenue Elementary School celebrated Bike/Walk to School Day.

Forest students and faculty were encouraged to come dressed in the school color, forest green, and meet at 8 a.m. at one of two locations: Forest/Gerdes and Forest/Pease. Walk to School Committee Members Amanda Weil and Andrea Sanataria spoke about pedestrian and bicycle safety and walked to school together. forest-walk1

Bike/Walk Day is sponsored by the Verona Environmental Commission (VEC), which also held its annual “Walk/Bike to School” poster contest open to all Verona public school students. Students choosing to participate brought their posters as they walked to school. All posters will be exhibited at the school and entered into the contest. Winners will receive $50.
