On Sunday, July 10, Tennessee Titans tight end and Verona native Anthony Fasano will host the 8th annual Anthony Fasano Foundation Bocce Bash at Verona Park. This event will once again benefit Backpacks For Life, a charity for homeless veterans started by 2010 Verona High School graduates Brett D’Alessandro and Kevin Clarke.
The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will feature a double-elimination bocce tournament, kids activities (from 11 to 3) and food vendors.
In 2012, the Anthony Fasano Foundation and a large group of volunteers partnered with Essex County to build four bocce courts in Verona Park. “I look forward to the Bocce Bash every year,” said Fasano. “It’s a great opportunity to get back home and see family and friends while raising money and awareness for a great military charity, Backpacks for Life. I want this to be something the community is excited about every Summer and the Kids Zone allows families to come to Verona Park and experience the Bocce Bash together.”
If you want to enter a team in the Bocce Bash, be advised that it is limited to 24 teams. The cost is $400 per team. For other sponsorship opportunities, see this website.
The Anthony Fasano Foundation is a recognized 501c3 non-profit that offers support to a variety of causes including children with autism, military veterans, and families struggling with hunger and poverty.
