MemorialCandlesMr. Harry G. Pritchard, Sr. of Verona passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2016. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Monday, May 23 from 5 to 7 p.m., with Military Honors at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.

Born in Montclair, Mr. Pritchard lived most of his life in Verona, where he and his late wife, Sheila, raised their family.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1947 and received the WW II Victory Medal.

Mr. Pritchard worked as an operating engineer for Local 68–Operating Engineers of West Caldwell for 40 years, retiring in 1998. Prior to that, he worked at Applin Garage and Bunky’s Gas Station, both in Verona. He was an active member of the Verona Volunteer Fire Department from 1949 to 1964 and was also a member of the Exempt Firemen’s Association.

Mr. Pritchard was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Sheila Pritchard and the loving father of Harry G. Pritchard, Jr., John T. Pritchard and Donna J. Pritchard Bannon. He was the brother of William “Bunky” Pritchard (and his wife Carole) and the late Kathleen Jones. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter, Ashley M. Pritchard.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verona Fire Department, 880 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, NJ 07044 or Verona Rescue Squad, 12 Church Street, Verona, NJ 07044 in his memory would be greatly appreciated.
