The Verona High School softball team spent the last few days in Florida, but it was hardly a spring break vacation. The team travelled to Orlando to compete at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. The 220-acre facility, located inside Walt Disney World, hosts amateur and professional competitions in a variety of sports, from baseball to volleyball.
The team arrived in Florida late last Thursday, and competed from Friday, April 1, through Monday, April 4, playing teams from Ohio, New Jersey and Maine. “While the end result on the scoreboard wasn’t always what I would have hoped for, the memories, laughs, togetherness and overall experience these girls had made the trip a true success,” said Coach Angela Salisbury.
“Throughout the entire trip, the 15 young ladies in attendance were an outstanding representation of Verona High School, their families, and themselves,” she added. “I am so proud to be their coach and I look forward to the conference play ahead.”
