KidsYogaOn Friday, April 8, at 11 a.m., the Verona Public Library will participate in Kids Yoga Day. This special event brings together children from all around the world to practice yoga and celebrate fitness together. The mission of Kids Yoga Day is to spread the word about the benefits of yoga to as many children as possible.

Betty Larrea, local author and New Jersey Ambassador for Kids Yoga Day, will lead the program at the Library. Larrea is one of over 135 ambassadors from 37 U.S. states and 12 countries for the event that is expected to draw over 12,000 participants. Kids Yoga Day was founded by Teresa Anne Power, author of the bestselling book, The ABCs of Yoga. To find out more about Kids Yoga Day, visit www.kidsyogaday.com.

Larrea will lead a 30-minute guided yoga class for children, parents and teachers. Says Larrea, “Kids love doing yoga because it allows them to use their imagination and connect with their bodies and the world. When children are given the opportunity to express themselves through yoga and play, they blossom and become aware of their gifts.”

Betty Larrea is the author of Lucinda’s Magical Yoga Adventure and founder of Be Yoga Be Love, which provides an interactive yoga and poetry curriculum and training for children and educators. She has been teaching yoga to children for over 15 years.

The Verona Public Library is located at 17 Gould St. For more information, call 973-857-4848 or visit www.veronalibrary.org.
