Town Seeks PT Maintenance Workers

maintenanceVerona’s town manager has posted a notice that the town is seeking two part-time building maintenance workers to assist in the maintenance and custodial requirements of the Township. The positions are for five days per week, 20 to 25 hours per week, including scheduled nights and weekend hours. Pay is $12 to $15 per hour. According to the notice:

Responsibilities include cleaning of rooms, offices, halls, gymnasiums and restrooms. May make minor repairs to the heating, electrical, and other systems of varied types. Assists carpenters, electricians, painters, plumbers with varied tasks of a simple nature. When assigned, moves objects weighing about 50 pounds. When assigned, moves heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment. May mow lawns, trim hedges, rake leaves and refuse, trim driveway and sidewalk edges using spades and hoes, shovel snow, and spread sand or salt on icy surfaces to prevent slipping. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic recording and information systems.

One year of experience in custodial, construction, maintenance, and/or repair field of buildings and facilities or similar work is preferred.

The town is also specifying that the individuals hired will need a New Jersey commercial driver’s license valid or be required to obtain a CDL within one year of appointment. The appointment will be made as a Non-Competitive Appointment pursuant to N.J.S.A. 4A:4-1.5.
