Mystery Fireworks

MysteryFireworksA lot of folks in the F.B. Brown corner of town didn’t sleep very well last night. That’s because somebody–or several somebodies–decided to set off some rather loud and bright fireworks on the property of Verona High School.

Just after 1:30 a.m., there were about five minutes of fireworks that were loud enough to wake up lots of people in the area, including Kelsey Festa, Barbara Kirby and the entire Coppola-Caffrey household.

“Crazy,” Christine Avgousti Palumbo wrote us on Facebook. “We looked out the window and it was like the 4th of July.”

Somebody called the cops. According to Verona Police Chief Mitchell Stern, the Verona Police officers who responded reported at 1:43 a.m. that they found spent fireworks at the scene, but not the people who left them in that condition.

If you know something the VPD should know, call the main number at (973) 239-5000.
