PaperCuttingChinese New Year is February 8, but Verona’s public school Mandarin programs are going to get a jump on it with a Chinese culture night on Friday, February 5.

The event, which features Chinese singing and dancing, as well as a fashion show and Kung Fu demonstration, runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The organizers say there will be a show beginning at 7 p.m., and that snacks and raffle tickets will be sold before it. You will be able to see both a professional Chinese New Year lion dance, and a fan dance put on by some of the Verona High School students selected to study in China with Rutgers University last summer.

The show will take place in the VHS auditorium at 151 Fairview Avenue, and admission is free for all guests.
