Among her books, Deborah Davis has explored the lives of such notables as John Singer Sargent (Strapless), Theodore Roosevelt (Guest of Honor), and Truman Capote (Party of the Century). In her latest book, she chronicles a little-known road trip that Andy Warhol took from New York to Los Angeles in 1963 and how that journey–and the numerous artists and celebrities he encountered–profoundly influenced his life and art. What began as a madcap romp became a journey that took Warhol on a kaleidoscopic adventure from New York City, across the vast American heartland, all the way to Hollywood and back.

The Trip provides a passenger seat view from Andy Warhol‘s speeding Ford Falcon, transporting readers from the last vestiges of the sleepy Eisenhower epoch to the true beginning of the explosive, exciting ‘60s. With in-depth original research, Davis sheds new light on one of the most enduring figures in the art world and captures a fascinating moment in 1960s America—with Warhol at its center.

All are invited to attend, but books must be pre-ordered for purchase and signing. Contact the Library at 973-857-4848 or [email protected]. The Verona Public Library is located at 17 Gould St.
