The Verona Municipal Alliance Committee (VMAC) is sponsoring the Positive Parenting Empowerment Workshop “Changing Bad Behaviors for Good Ones” on Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m. The workshop will be held in the auditorium of H.B. Whitehorne Middle School.
The workshop facilitator, Tom Palermo, is a highly acclaimed speaker and Positive Parenting Coach that has spent the last 24 years working with families to create positive behavioral changes in their home. He is the author of “Parenting….The Manual Your Child Should Have Come With” and provides support to parents through workshops and private consultation. He also works with the NYC Office of Mental Health to provide staff training and intensive in-home parenting services throughout the five boroughs. His dynamic parenting seminars are filled with substantive, down-to-earth techniques that help parents identify behavioral challenges and employ positive solutions.
The focus of the workshop “Changing Bad Behaviors for Good Ones” is how to teach to inappropriate behaviors. Techniques will be discussed that will replace yelling with a teaching vehicle that can utilize consequences, strengthen relationships and ultimately provide the behaviors you desire. These techniques will send your child a powerful and effective message without the use of anger and the daily conflict that can harm your child’s self- esteem and self-image.
VMAC’s mission is to provide information on alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse prevention, as well as healthy lifestyle choices to all members of the Verona community.
