Even if you haven’t shopped the farmstand at Morgan’s Farm, you may have eaten some of the good things that grow there: This summer, its produce has been on the menu at Ariane Kitchen & Bar and the vegan cafe PositiviTea in Verona, and at LuNello Restaurant in Cedar Grove.
The farm-to-table presence is a big step forward for Morgan’s Farm, which fed folks in our area from 1845 to 1985. Then, in 2013, it was revived as an organic farm by Verona residents John and Julie Ostering, who have been selling produce directly to consumers on Saturday mornings. “Now, some weeks we are delivering more than 40 pounds of kale to PositiviTea,” says John Ostering.
Morgan’s Farm should continue to be on the menu locally well into the fall: This past Saturday, the Osterings were getting ready to move a new crop of kale plants and other fall crops from the greenhouse into the fields.
Morgan’s Farm, located at 903 Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove, is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October. You can see what’s being picked on their Facebook page.
