Did you know that many Verona families will struggle to provide school supplies for their children this fall? The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona is determined to ease this burden through its Packs with Purpose fundraiser and school supply drive, which will run throughout the month of July.
Last year, due to the overwhelming generosity of the community and their partnership with Walgreens-Verona, the Juniors were able to fill more than 40 backpacks. The Juniors worked with Verona’s Health & Social Services Program Coordinator, Connie Pifher, to ensure that the backpacks were distributed to those who needed them the most.
The Juniors hope to match last year’s success and look to the community for support. To help, residents can purchase an item or two from the Wish List, which can be found at www.veronajuniors.org, or make a donation online at www.veronajuniors.org/packs-withpurpose.html. All donations are tax-deductible.
Collection bins will be set up at the Verona Community Center, the Verona Public Library, Walgreens and Hot Bagels-N-More. The Juniors also will have a collection table outside Walgreens on July 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Aug. 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Junior Woman s Club of Verona is a versatile organization that has been involved in social and charitable work since its inception in 1926.
