After a fun day and successful fundraising efforts, the Bermeo family would like to thank all those who walked, donated, and sent well wishes from afar for the Walk To Cure Arthritis on June 7. The family chose to participate in the walk after learning that their daughter, Abigail, had Juvenile Arthritis.
“It was a humbling experience to see the incredible show of support from friends, neighbors, and family. Our goal was set at $1,200 when we joined the walk in April. To have raised over $4,300 was an incredible surprise and even emotional at times,” says Tracy Bermeo, Abigail’s mother.
Speakers at the event included other teens who also suffer from arthritis and have benefitted from the tremendous research supported by this and other similar efforts nationwide. With over 60 people as part of “Team Abby”, and over 700 walkers all together, Verona Park was more than just a place that day; it was the core of a community.
