At least five police cars converged at Verona High School early this morning to deal with what was apparently supposed to be a prank.
A MyVeronaNJ.com reader texted us at 5:30 a.m. to report that there were five police cars in front of the high school and a ladder against the building. A second reader indicated that perhaps as many as 20 students were involved.
The students were said to have been posting “For Sale” signs on the lawn and a banner of the same nature on the building.
We do not know if the students were detained or if there was any property damage. Our text and email messages to Superintendent Rui Dionisio and VHS Principal Glenn Cesa early this morning have not yet been returned.
Pre-graduation pranks are something of a ritual at the high school. Sampson Drive has been painted several times over the last few years, among other things.
