Ensign Mark Bovich of Verona was commissioned as a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy on June 13 at a ceremony held at Independence Park in Philadelphia.
Bovich has been assigned to the USS New York (LPD 21), Mayport, Fla. He was a midshipman in the University of Pennsylvania Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.
On this same day, Bovich graduated from Drexel University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Bovich is a 2011 graduate of St. Peter’s Prep High School. He joins his brother LTJG Lawrence Bovich, a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot, coincidentally assigned to the same base.
