Verona Police Officer Ron Thorward was diagnosed this past November with Stage 4 liver cancer and Stage 4 esophageal cancer. He has been unable to work and has undergone more than four surgeries in an attempt to treat his cancer.
Verona PBA Local 72 is hosting an evening of music on Thursday, May 28, to benefit him and his family, and now some of his other supporters have set up a GoFundMe campaign to fill the gaps in Officer Thorward’s sick leave benefits.
If you are not familiar with GoFundMe, it’s an online tool that lets you donate as much as you’d like through a secure Web site. You can even donate anonymously. The monies are being collected by Justin Nielsen on behalf of the Thorward family. GoFundMe keeps a small part of what’s collected as a service fee, and the rest goes to the family.
The link to the GoFundMe campaign is here.
If you are not comfortable with online donations, you can also write a check. Make it payable to Verona PBA #72 Civic Association and put “Ron Thorward Fund” in the memo. Mail to the PBA at P.O. Box #72, Verona, NJ 07044
