public-speakingJudith Rubin and Rebecca Simmons are set to speak at the “Essex Toastmasters Speakers Series” on Thursday, April 23. They will share with us how Toastmasters helped with their personal and professional lives. The objective of this series is to provide practical, real life experience of how Toastmasters can genuinely change your life by helping you with your public speaking and leadership skills.

Judith Rubin is the Director of Category Insights, Biscuit North America for Mondelez International. She was with Essex Toastmasters for 2 years and completed the competent communicator manual, which consisted of accomplishing ten speeches with various themes. She also helped to run club meetings and handled roles including Toastmaster and Evaluator. Judith says, “Toastmasters changed my life! I’m excited to be back and talk to the group.”

Rebecca Simmons is a powerful speaker who enjoys teaching and delivering sermons each week at New Creation Christian Ministries where she and her husband, Anthony Simmons, serve together as pastors. Along with her work at the church, she owns and operates Diligence Publishing Company.

She is the founder of Woman To Woman Empowerment Group (WWEG), a 3,500-plus member online community of women currently on Facebook from all over the world. In addition to being a pastor, preacher, speaker, and author, she hosts a weekly radio broadcast, “Woman To Woman With Pastor Rebecca” on the Internet on Blogtalkradio. She has written a motivational book, a healing inspirational book for women, an inspirational book of encouragement for men and women, and two novels. She has also co-authored a marriage book, “Making Marriage and Relationships Work” with her husband.

Rebecca learned about Toastmasters International while working at Merrill Lynch in 2003 and credits the Verona branch with helping her to become the speaker that she is today. She achieved the level of ATM and participated in every club meeting in roles such as Toastmaster, Ah Counter, Timer, Grammarian, and Evaluator. She also participated in the club contests and one year went on to compete on the district level in the Humorous Speaking Contest taking home the second place trophy. She would definitely agree that Toastmasters International has made her a better speaker.

Please show Judith and Rebecca your support and stop by this Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at the Verona Public Library.
