We’re almost two months from the election and there is already a gigantic banner polluting our downtown. I’ve watched the council meetings on television and I know there is a plan to enhance the beauty of the approach from Lakeside into Bloomfield Ave. I find it ironic that Councilman Nochimson, who supports the plan, is the name on the banner. There is also another banner hanging from the Flat Iron building a few blocks away. I’m afraid this will encourage the other candidates to follow suit. I am urging all candidates to avoid these unsightly signs and banners throughout their campaign. Or at the least hold back until the final week. Giant banners are an unnecessary eyesore for any reason but seven weeks before a council election is ridiculous.
