Bill Ferrari, a Verona High School senior who has been a leader on the football and basketball teams, was named a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete on Wednesday night at a banquet at the Mayfair Farms. The event was sponsored by the Essex County chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame

The honor is based on athletic and academic achievement, as well as leadership in school.

A three-year football starter, Ferrari broke his arm early in the fall season, but returned to play in both the semi-final playoff game against Becton and the championship against Cresskill. He will be playing football at Johns Hopkins University in the fall.
