AOW-JuliaAshley1The Verona Sports Boosters would like to congratulate Julia Ashley of the girls winter track team as the Girls Senior Athlete of the Week.

Recently, Julia ran the anchor leg of a record setting sprint medley relay at the Essex County relays. The time of 4:19.71 was the fastest in school history and ranks eighth in the nation! Prior to every race, Julia likes to tie her shoes extremely tight–to the point where she cannot feel her feet. She feels that if they are loose then she will run slower.

She is a fan of the show “Desperate Housewives”, the band Train, cookies and cream ice cream, and the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. Her best vacation ever was a trip to the Bahamas, and her favorite coach at VHS is Coach Leporati.AOW-JuliaAshley2

Beyond high school, Julia would like to play professional soccer as well as pursue a career as a sports commentator or a physical therapist.

The Verona Sports Boosters wishes Julia success in achieving all of her future dreams. During the 2014-2015 school year, the Verona Sports Boosters will recognize a different male and female senior athlete at Verona High School. The Boosters support male and female athletes in all VHS sports through a variety of fundraisers and recognition events.
